So many exciting and incredible (ha! see what I did there?) changes are coming to Walt Disney World this summer! What can you expect? When is everything happening? Are these new events worth the crowds, heat, and humidity? Disney in the summer is not for the faint of heart. Yes, it is south Florida, and yes, it is hot, but the excitement over these new attractions and shows will make it well worth your time!
Disney World in the Summer
Summer officially kicks off for Walt Disney World on May 25. However, not every event or attraction I’m sharing about will begin on May 25. Some events begin later in June and one has already started! What are you most looking forward to seeing during this “Incredible Summer?”
UP! A Great Bird Adventure
In case you were unaware, “Flights of Wonder” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently underwent a complete makeover. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Animal Kingdom, a new show entitled “UP! A Great Bird Adventure” debuted on April 22. Featuring Russell and Dug from the Disney•Pixar animated film “UP,” they team up to discover species of birds from around the world.
Donald’s Dino-Bash
Speaking of permanent additions, Donald’s Dino-Bash does not appear to have an end date either! Beginning May 25, celebrate with Donald and friends as he takes over Dinoland, U.S.A. as Donald has recently discovered that ducks are descendants of dinosaurs.
I am so excited for these new meet and greets and a Donald takeover! Neil will be excited too as Donald is his favorite!
The Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! Concert Series
Over in Epcot, Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill) and Gamora will take guests on a musical journey through the cosmos. Unfortunately, their ride won’t be open yet, but I’m hopeful that this awesome show will placate us in the meantime.
Shows will run five times daily from June 9 through August 19.
An Incredible Tomorrowland Expo
We have loved the “Tomorrowland Dance Party” featuring favorite Disney•Pixar characters for a long time now. This summer, they are ramping up the action!
Mr. Incredible, Frozone, and other supers will be around to interact and party, and, for the first time ever, Edna Mode will be making her appearance!
H20 Glow Nights
Typhoon Lagoon is my family’s favorite Disney water park. This summer, it will be even better with the introduction of H20 Glow Nights!
On select nights from June 21-August 11, a glow party will transform the park. From 8-11pm, guests will be able to experience all of the attractions, meet Toy Story pals like Woody, Jessie, and Buzz, and enjoy limited-time food offerings.
Hollywood Studios
Finally, Hollywood Studios will be undergoing some of the biggest changes of the summer when Toy Story Land officially opens June 30!
The new, 11 acre land will features two new attractions, Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers, in addition to the already beloved Toy Story Mania!
Before Toy Story Land opens, hop over to Walt Disney Presents and check out a sneak peek of the new Incredibles 2 movie! Beginning May 18, you can see your favorite super family back in action before the feature length film lands in theaters June 15!
With all of these amazing experiences at Walt Disney World’s Incredible Summer, which one are you looking forward to seeing first?
