I haven’t blogged too much about my kiddos lately, so I think it’s time to remedy that. I started this blog as an avenue for me to keep up with all the changes in their lives, but I’ve also found it to be a fun outlet for my opinions and creativity. Hope you’ll bear with me as I gush about me kids for a few! 🙂
Caroline and Mackenzie will be 21 months old in 1 week. I cannot believe they are 3 months away from turning 2 years old. So much has changed in 2 years.
Caroline, the older twin by 1 minute, loves to talk. She’s an avid repeater. It’s really cute until you say something like “Crap!,” and then you hear a little voice behind you say, “Cwap!” Yeah. That was a DOH! parenting moment. She also loves to eat “strawberries and gwapes” and her favorite thing to do is play outside. All the time. And when I say all the time I mean ALL. THE. TIME. It doesn’t matter if it’s raining or 100 degrees or 20 degrees, that girl wants to be outside. Her first two syllable word was “outside,” but I wonder how long this fascination will last. Will she be a archeologist (she loves digging)? Will she want to play soccer professionally (“Kick that ball, Mommy!”)? I know I went through several “career” choices before I decided on a direction in college, but it’s so fun to see her interests changing from day to day. Caroline loves to say things like “Play An-gay Bur-ds!” or “No problem, no problem.” It’s really funny to hear her starting to sound like a grown up.
Mackenzie talks a lot more now that she used to, but no where near as much as Caroline. I must admit: I was super nervous that something was wrong with her because she is a lot less vocal than her sister. Their pediatrician has assured me at every visit that they are both growing and developing normally, but it’s always in the back of my mind because of their prematurity. Maybe one day I’ll stop worrying so much (ha ha).
Back to little Miss M: her favorite thing to say right now is “One! Tew! One! Tew!” I’ve tried to encourage her to keep counting, but she’s content with 1, 2 for now. She loves to play with her baby doll, and both girls love to color or write on paper or in coloring books. Mackenzie is super serious when she writes, too. She always has a serious “thinking” look on her face when she writes. She is also very affectionate and loves to give out hugs and kisses.
I look at both of my girls every day, and I am so thankful that they are a part of my life now. I would never have imagined them in my wildest dreams, but it just goes to show you that God has a plan and we know absolutely nothing about it. Now that I have them, I wouldn’t have wanted to become a mother any other way. Having twins is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but I am learning more about myself each day because of them. I truly believe they have made me a better person. They are teaching me compassion, patience, and the beauty of unconditional love on a daily basis. I only hope I can do their little lives justice by being a good parent to them. Thankfully, I am married to a wonderful man who can fill in the gaps I leave. 🙂
Ok, ok. Sorry for all the gushing. I just wanted you to have a little update on their lives since they were the reason I started this blog. Hope you’re having a great Tuesday!
