I love to dabble in makeup. I’ve been dancing since the tender age of three, so makeup and I go way, way back. I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of transforming your looks with makeup. That’s not to say there are days when I don’t go without (real talk: I have 2 kids under 5 and there are sometimes those days), but, for the most part, I love to wear it because it gives me time to play and experiment. A “mommy play time” of sorts, if you will.
One of the biggest things I hear women complain about when it comes to makeup is how they “don’t have time for it” in their busy mornings. I feel that pain, I promise, but I also want to let you know there is hope! If you can set aside just 5 minutes for yourself (seriously, FIVE minutes), you can have a “made up” face without looking “made up.” It all starts with the right preparation.First things first, prepare your makeup bag. Do you have products in there you rarely use? What about ones you never use? I am completely guilty of cluttering up my makeup bag with unnecessary products. If they are used every now and then or brand new, don’t throw them out! Simply transfer them to another bag for later use.
Pro Tip: Designate your favorite bag as your “every day” makeup bag. That way it will be easy to grab in a hurry!
Secondly, if you are using makeup brushes, make sure they are cleaned and easily within reach when you are ready. 9 times out of 10, if I don’t have all my supplies at the ready, I get frustrated and give up. Searching around for your stuff cuts into that precious 5 minutes we’re trying to stick to!
Ok, are you ready to find out what products you need to get a 5 Minute Face? Great!
- Foundation
- Powder
- Eyeshadow
- Mascara
- Blush
- Eyebrow pencil
- Eyebrow mascara
- Lipgloss
That’s it! That’s really all you need to get the easily achievable 5 Minute Face we’re trying for today. One of my favorite multi-use products is my eyeshadow palette because it has an optional darker color to use as a liner if I want. Simply take an angled brush, dip it in the color, and sweep it across your lash line on top and bottom. For a daytime look, I often go without liner because I’m trusting my mascara to do a lot of the “heavy lifting” for my look. To take my look from day to night, I will add a dark eyeliner, a few more coats of mascara, and a lip liner to really amp up the presence of my lipgloss.

Maybelline Baby Lips is my favorite!! I’m gonna try that mascara you mentioned. I also love Mary Kay creme-to-powder foundation. Talk about quick & easy! Thanks for these tips!!
