A long time ago, in a basement far, far away….
My first exposure to Star Wars was at the tender age of 12 during a birthday/sleepover party. My best friend’s dad was a huge Star Wars fan, and he thought a bunch of 12 year old girls would be the perfect candidates for introduction to the franchise (God bless dads of daughters everywhere….they try).
I really need to thank that dad. I think he was hoping it would make us all go to sleep (finally), but I was actually the only girl that stayed awake long enough to finish the movie. I. Was. Hooked.
My Star Wars Story
Over the years, my love of Star Wars grew. When I met my future husband, I discovered he was a huge Star Wars (and Disney) fan. It only seemed to solidify the fact that we were made for each other. For ultimate geekery, we went to Star Wars Weekends at Disney for my birthday one year, back when that was a thing. This franchise is part of our story. My girls were introduced to the saga two years ago in the form of “The Force Awakens.” Mackenzie wasn’t hooked right away (don’t worry, she’s totally #TeamRey now), but Caroline got that look in her eye that I know all too well. She had found her fandom.
I have a dream goal of one day interviewing the cast and crew of this incredible franchise. I’d be happy talking to anyone who’s ever been involved.
Obviously, the ultimate interview would be George Lucas, but I’d be over the moon for the likes of Ron Howard (director of the upcoming “Solo: A Star Wars Story”) or Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) or, yes, even Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker from Episodes I-III). As much as I tend to malign those first few episodes, they served their purpose, and I’d still love to hear about the making of those movies.By the way, if you haven’t watched “The Director and the Jedi” documentary extra from “The Last Jedi” Blu-ray release, get. on. it. Rian Johnson proved to me through “The Last Jedi” that he is not only capable, but utterly trustworthy with the next installments of the franchise after Episode IX brings the Skywalker saga to its conclusion.
New Trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story
Why am I sharing my Star Wars story with you today? Well, the newest trailer for “Solo: A Star Wars Story” just dropped yesterday, and you have got to see it!
About Solo: A Star Wars Story
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
The film stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany.
What We Know About Solo: A Star Wars Story
Unlike Episodes I-VIII, Solo is a standalone film in the Star Wars universe. We are finally getting some backstory on Han Solo, Chewie, and (my personal favorite) Lando Calrissian. Han has always been the good guy with a bad boy streak, and it will be interesting to see him in a different light, especially before he fell in love with Princess Leia and got involved in the Skywalker saga.Let’s be real here for a sec. Even if this one crashes and burns (though I highly doubt it), I am HERE for Donald Glover as Lando. Here. For. It.So tell me; are you excited about this next standalone film? Is Alden Ehrenreich enough of a scruffy looking nerf-herder for you? Solo: A Star Wars Story opens everywhere May 25!
