As an adult (can I actually say that now? am I really one?), it’s easy to forget about the simple things in life. You already know most everything, right? So why spend time thinking about the simple things, right? So boring. But add kids into the mix, who know pretty much nothing about the world around them, and you’re instantly reminded of what it’s like to experience everything the world has to offer for the first time.
Caroline is so much more vocal than her sister right now, but that’s ok. Mackenzie’s time will come. In fact, her non-vocal communication makes me work that much harder to connect with her. I love them both for who they are, right now, in this moment.
I love this age. Yes, the twos can sometimes be “terrible,” but I like them better now that I did 6 months ago. Everything is a learning experience. “Whas dat sound, Mommy?” “Whas dat ova der?” “Da hand dyer scare me, Mommy.” “I like go to Chip-o-lay (Chick-fil-A) peas!” Everything is new and different and fun. I love it.
We’ve been to the beach before, but not when they could both communicate how adamantly they loved it and how they were absolutely not ready to be done playing (even if there was a storm coming). This trip last weekend was short and sweet, but I have a feeling we’ll be back for some more quality time with Mr. Beach. I, for one, can’t wait.
