TRT: Snow Day Edition

So it’s snowing outside. I live in north central Alabama. This is a BIG deal, people. Buuuuuut my girls are napping, so here’s a quick edition of Totally Random Thursday for ya.

1. I’m currently reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. This isn’t your typical YA fantasty/romance literature. Yes, that’s in there, yes, there are supernatural creatures, but it’s really well written, and it has kept me turning the page! It’s almost 800 pages long, so that’s saying something. I think you should read it. Then tell me and we’ll discuss.

2. I am getting so excited for hubs and I’s mini-vacay this weekend. My awesome parents are coming up to our house to watch the kiddos and we are going to Nashvegas for 2.5 days by ourselves. WEEEE! What should we do in Nashville? I’ve only ever been for church youth group type stuff at Lipscomb University, so I have no idea what’s out there, really. Share a favorite spot with me if you’ve got one!

3. My kiddos are so smart. I know every parent says that about their child(ren), but mine really are so smart. They have really come into it recently, singing songs, saying the alphabet, counting to 10. Of course, it’s not perfect, but it seems really intelligent for almost-2-year-olds to be saying some of the things they say. Caroline is talking so much now it’s hard to keep up with her. Poor Mackenzie talks a lot too, but she doesn’t form her words as clearly and she gets so frustrated when I can’t understand her. However, she completely took me by surprise the other day when I was changing her diaper and she started circling her arms and yelling, “Waaaaa E-gull!” (That’s “War Eagle!” Auburn University’s battle cry for all you non-southern folks who read my blog) What can I say? I was just a little proud at that moment. Let’s hope living in Birmingham doesn’t weedle its way into our house.

Those are my random thoughts for today! I’m hoping the kiddos will wake up in time to play in the snow. We attempted it before naptime, but it just wasn’t coming down enough. Now that it’s not so slushy, I hope we can have some fun. Hope your Thursday is going great!
