Disney’s Nutcracker Final Trailer

Details, details, details! When creating a fantastical world where mice can talk and dolls come to life, the details are so important. Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is going to be visually stunning.Disney's Nutcracker Can we please talk about how perfect Clara’s “soldier” outfit is? I need someone to put this costume out for Halloween ASAP!Nutcracker and the Four Realms film stillI am also in love with the details for the regents of the three realms. Not pictured here is Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren) and her “broken doll” aesthetic is incredible too (makes it easy to pick out the “bad guy,” yes?).

New Twist on a Classic

Although this film pulls from the classic E.T.A. Hoffman tale, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just a ballet. I wouldn’t have a problem with it if it was (heeeey, Misty Copeland), but this version of “The Nutcracker” is going to be action packed. I’m already looking forward to the combination of femininity and strength we will see from Mackenzie Foy as she plays Clara in this retelling.Helen Mirren as Mother Ginger in The Nutcracker and the Four RealmsI also can’t leave out the incomparable Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman. Do those two ever age? They’re just as wonderful in films now as they were a decade ago. I’m eager to see them in heavily costumed roles once again.

More about The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Disney’s new holiday feature film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is directed by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston, and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale.
