When I get an idea in my head, I have to get it out or I’ll never be able to let go of it. Anyone else like that? I originally started out this project with a different idea, but it was just not coming together. Thankfully, I have learned how to step back, take another look, and try again. After some thought and consideration, I finally came up with these easy DIY Pixar Easter eggs.

Supplies DIY Easter Eggs Inspired by Pixar

First, you’ll want to gather some supplies. If you’re like me, and you don’t have a steady stream of craft supplies on hand, I try to make it as easy as possible. I don’t want to run to five different craft stores to make a “simple” craft. Here’s what I used for our Pixar Easter eggs:

Yep, that’s really it. I like to keep my crafts to less than ten items to make. I also try to keep my steps to make something short and sweet.

Directions for DIY Pixar Easter Eggs

Now, obviously, I’m not going to break down every single egg with instructions. Most of them are pretty self explanatory. For example, the Pixar ball egg instructions are to literally cut out a red star, adhere to the egg, and paint a strip of blue around the outside of the egg. Voila! Done.

For some of the other eggs, it may be a bit more complicated. Let’s talk about the Inside Out character Fear for a moment. I was inspired by Fear’s iconic “hair” and his hilariously emotive facial expression. That’s what I chose to capture on that particular egg. The “hair” was the hardest part as it involved me drawing out the shape and cutting it very carefully.

Sully from Monsters, Inc. was almost too easy. The blue egg was just asking for me to turn it into a Sully!

Finally, Nemo came to me at the last minute. I had one orange egg leftover, and I wracked my brain for an orange Pixar character to complete my lineup. Nemo was a lot of fun because his stripes didn’t have to be perfectly symmetrical and neither did his fin!

Toy Story Easter Eggs

Why did I choose two characters from Toy Story and only one from other franchises? Well, that’s how the project started out. I knew Toy Story 4 would be coming out soon, and folks might be looking for some fun ways to incorporate Toy Story 4 into their upcoming holidays. I started with Buzz and Woody, but I just could not get them right.

Thankfully, Hamm and the Aliens saved my day! Hamm has always been one of my favorite Toy Story characters because his sarcasm is so dry and witty. How can you not love the Aliens too? They provide comic relief just when you need it!
