I love to dabble in makeup. I’ve been dancing since the tender age of three, so makeup and I go way, way back. I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of transforming your looks with makeup. That’s not to say there are days when I don’t go without (real talk: I have 2 kids under 5 and there are sometimes those days), but, for the most part, I love to wear it because it gives me time to play and experiment. A “mommy play time” of sorts, if you will.

One of the biggest things I hear women complain about when it comes to makeup is how they “don’t have time for it” in their busy mornings. I feel that pain, I promise, but I also want to let you know there is hope! If you can set aside just 5 minutes for yourself (seriously, FIVE minutes), you can have a “made up” face without looking “made up.” It all starts with the right preparation.Easy Steps to Follow to Achieve a Five Minute FaceFirst things first, prepare your makeup bag. Do you have products in there you rarely use? What about ones you never use? I am completely guilty of cluttering up my makeup bag with unnecessary products. If they are used every now and then or brand new, don’t throw them out! Simply transfer them to another bag for later use.

Pro Tip: Designate your favorite bag as your “every day” makeup bag. That way it will be easy to grab in a hurry!

Secondly, if you are using makeup brushes, make sure they are cleaned and easily within reach when you are ready. 9 times out of 10, if I don’t have all my supplies at the ready, I get frustrated and give up. Searching around for your stuff cuts into that precious 5 minutes we’re trying to stick to!

Ok, are you ready to find out what products you need to get a 5 Minute Face? Great!8 Essentials for Your Makeup BagMy essentials for a 5 minute face are:

  1. Foundation
  2. Powder
  3. Eyeshadow
  4. Mascara
  5. Blush
  6. Eyebrow pencil
  7. Eyebrow mascara
  8. Lipgloss

That’s it! That’s really all you need to get the easily achievable 5 Minute Face we’re trying for today. One of my favorite multi-use products is my eyeshadow palette because it has an optional darker color to use as a liner if I want. Simply take an angled brush, dip it in the color, and sweep it across your lash line on top and bottom. For a daytime look, I often go without liner because I’m trusting my mascara to do a lot of the “heavy lifting” for my look. To take my look from day to night, I will add a dark eyeliner, a few more coats of mascara, and a lip liner to really amp up the presence of my lipgloss. Eyeshadow Application for 5 Minute FaceThe mascara I am really loving right now is Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama. It’s a brand new product that is the first to incorporate a brush with cup-shaped bristles that scoop, coat, and lift the lashes all at once! I’m very fortunate to have nice, long lashes, but it never hurts to add a little volume to them as well. Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama coats your lashes from root to tip and lifts them up to a 45 degree angle. Talk about adding a little “oomph” to your look!Maybelline Falsies Push Up DramaYou can find all of these great Maybelline products, including my favorite brow mascara and pencil, at Walmart.Maybelline at Walmart I enjoy being able to stop in to one place and gather up all the great products I need for a quick 5 Minute Face. Thankfully, Walmart’s makeup section is organized by brand, so finding the products I want is quick and easy to do.
