^^Family photo attempt(s)^^
Neil has family that live in the Mobile area of Alabama, and we have been traveling down there to visit and attend Mardi Gras parades for the last 5 years. We started taking the kiddos last year, but this year they really understood what was going on and seemed to love it! Mackenzie wasn’t so sure about all the noise at first, but after she caught a stuffed animal bunny she wouldn’t stop smiling. Caroline loved dancing to the marching bands and loved yelling, “Tow me some toys!”
This year’s trip went by waaaayyy too fast. I hope next year we can stay for the entire weekend and go to more than just 1 parade.
The parade we attended Saturday night was in Fairhope for the Knights of Ecor Rouge. I don’t have a clue about all the different groups down there, but we have been to this group’s parade 2 or 3 times now, and it is always a great parade. The theme this year was “Live from Fairhope, It’s Saturday Night!” which was awesome because I love SNL and had just introduced my in-laws to the More Cowbell SNL sketch the night before and they had a “More Cowbell” float! It was also a cool, windless night which was great compared to last year when we almost froze our faces off.
The girls got some really great stuffed animals (and not the cheap ones either!) as well as beads, moon pies, cups, and blow horns (which are, thankfully, not as annoying as those stupid vuvuzelas). I can’t wait to go back next year!
