Style in the Suburbs

Welcome, welcome! Glad you found me here at my new home. How do you like it? Pretty fancy, huh? I’ve got my awesome hubby to thank for this brand new site, and you should thank him too. I think the format is a lot cleaner and easier to follow. Not to mention the colors and graphics are cool too! Thanks babe!

Now that that’s taken care of, let’s move on to today’s post. I’ve recently been inspired by Jessica over at What I Wore to document some of my personal style for all of you lovely folks to see. She has been documenting her wardrobe every day for over 4 years. 4 years people! Side note: her blog is her business. She is newly married, has no children and also makes frequent trips to NYC to update her style. I, on the other hand, have two 7 month olds, a house to keep clean, a husband to keep fed and live no where near the fashion mecca that is NYC. Just wanted to set that bar low in case any of you were expecting something as amazing as her blog (read: I’m pretty sure you will enjoy my posts, but don’t kill me if they aren’t as frequent or if you happen to see the same piece a few times…money doesn’t grow on trees around here). I, like Jessica, majored in Apparel Merchandising in college, but to be honest I’ve always loved fashion.

I should have known I wanted to be in fashion instead of acting because the only reason I watched the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, etc. when I was younger was to judge everyone’s style for said awards show instead of really caring about who won like a good actor is supposed to (side note: Yes, I did want to be an actor at one time. Ok, you can stop laughing now). I still watch those shows, but I’m definitely more interested in the pre-show than the actual awards ceremony. I am always looking to those shows, as well as social media outlets, runway shows and my fave magazines, to find my inspiration for the every day. This outfit was inspired by all the layering that has recently become popular for the fall.

Jacket: H&M
Shirt: Target
Necklace: Francesca’s Collections
Tights: Target
Shoes: Target

I probably could have gone with some awesome tights in another color, but black was all I had in my closet. Maybe another trip to Target is in order? By the way, if you can’t tell, I love me some Target. They have really stylish, comfortable and, best of all, affordable clothes. I digress. Another post devoted to Target later. In the meantime, what did you think of my outfit? Do you live in the south and wonder why it’s still 80 degrees out too? I secretly hope putting on my tights will force summer out and bring fall in. Even winter will do at this point! What inspires your style?
P.S. Like my new haircut? 🙂
