Why does it always feel like summer is over after the 4th of July?? I am the only one feeling like we’re on the downhill slide of summer and I’m not ready?! Ok, maybe that was a tad bit dramatic, but you get what I’m saying. The stores have already begun their back-to-school nonsense, so I’m feeling like fall should be here any minutes now.
Except for the part where I live in the south and today it was 90+ degrees. It will still be “summer” here in the south until the end of October (possibly even early November), so we can keep on wearing our summer attire long after the rest of the US has had to put on jeans and scarves.
I love the warmer weather that summer brings, but because I’m much more into fall fashion than summer fashion, sometimes I go through a “summertime slump” of wearing uninspired shorts and tees every day. If you’re like me, you need a little outfit inspiration every now and then. Here are a few ways to beat the summer fashion “slump.”
1. Pick one part of your outfit you want to rock a pattern with and ROCK it!
2. Don’t be afraid to dress up!
I’ve only attended one wedding so far this summer, but I loved getting dolled up for it. I practiced my smoky eye look, straightened my hair, and put on heels! My husband didn’t know what to do with me (only kidding, but it was nice that he couldn’t stop staring at me all night)! In our laid back, relaxed culture today, I don’t feel like we take the opportunity to dress up enough, and a wedding is the perfect excuse to go all out!
3. Keep it simple!
Ok, so this is the complete opposite of #2, but I tend to overthink waaaayyy too much! For most of the summer, everyone is just to darn hot and too darn sweaty for all the accouterments we feel like we need to be “fashionable.” Don’t be too fussy with your every day wardrobe! I love throwing on a hat and some sneakers and heading out the door! And can we have a moment of thankfulness to whoever started this new trend of stretchy pants and shorts that is currently happening?! THANK YOU! Love me some stretchy shorts!
Do you have any tips to keep yourself inspired with your wardrobe this summer? I’d love to know how you style yourself in this heat!
