Exciting new experiences are coming to the Disneyland Resort this year! 2020 is going to be full of great things for Disneyland, including new rides, festivals, and special events. Take a look at what’s new at Disneyland this year before you plan your next Disney vacation!

New Things at Disneyland This Year
Just like its Orlando, Florida counterpart, Disneyland is looking forward to 2020. Ride openings, special events, and exciting festival are all happening in this year. Even seasoned Disneyland Passholders will be excited about all the new offerings. Read on for more of what’s coming in 2020 and plan your trip accordingly!

New Disneyland Rides
One of the most exciting new attractions is finally making its debut at Disneyland. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open on January 17, 2020. This unique ride will be located in Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park.

Next, while not a totally new ride, a reimaging will give enhancements to a classic favorite. Snow White’s Scary Adventures will keep its classic feel with a few new updates including new scenes and extra details in 2020.
Avengers Campus Opening Summer 2020
Another highly anticipated experience will be the Avengers Campus opening in the summer of 2020. No details have been revealed yet as to how much of the Marvel-themed land will be open, but it’s safe to say it will be popular! Disney’s first ride-through attraction featuring Spider-Man, more hero encounters, and supersized food at the Pym Test Kitchen are just some of the experiences guests can look forward to.

Disneyland Resort Festivals & Parties
Returning festivals and parties will have new food offerings and experiences to try in 2020.
First up this year, Lunar New Year will be celebrated January 17 to February 9, 2020. The Year of Mouse will have special food to enjoy, entertainment, and character experiences.
My favorite Disneyland festival, Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, will take place February 28 to April 21. Check out my post from last year and find out what to eat and what not to eat at the festival!

Oogie Boogie Bash, which was new in 2019, will return to Disney California Adventure in 2020. This separately ticketed event takes place in September and October and allows guests to dress in costume and trick-or-treat in the park!
Finally, Disney Festival of the Holidays will also be returning in 2020. No dates have been announced yet, but based on years past, it’s safe to assume early November to early January 2021. Each year new foods and entertainment experiences are added to this festival that celebrates holidays around the world from multiple cultures.
Disneyland 65th Anniversary Celebration
On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney dedicated Disneyland Park and opened it to the public. July 17, 2020 will celebrate 65 years of Walt’s vision come to life. More details to come for Disneyland’s 65th Anniversary, but I’m sure the celebration will involve classic attractions like Mad Tea Party, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Jungle Cruise just to name a few!

New Disneyland Parade
Next, a brand new daytime parade will make its way down Main Street, USA. “Magic Happens” will debut on February 28, 2020. With music by the incomparable Todrick Hall and stunning new floats, guests will experience how the magic happens every day at Disneyland!

Disneyland After Dark
Another fun event during this year at Disneyland will be the “Disneyland After Dark” events. Each separately ticketed event will only occur on one (or two) night(s), so plan ahead if you really want to attend! Below are the dates and themes for each event:
- 80s Nite: January 29, 2020 (9pm to 1am with a park “mix-in” at 6pm)
- Sweethearts’ Nite: February 12 and 13, 2020 (9pm to 1am with a park “mix-in” at 6pm)

- Pixar Nite: March 5, 2020 (8pm to midnight with a park “mix-in” at 5pm)
- Villains Nite (at Disney California Adventure): April 30, 2020 (9pm to 1am with a park “mix-in” at 6pm)
What’s New Outside the Parks
Heading to Downtown Disney? You’re in luck because new things are coming to the Downtown Disney District too! Newly opened Asian Street Eats features quick service dishes from Chef Hung Huynh, season 3 winner of Bravo TV’s Top Chef.
Additionally, treat yourself or someone you love to a day of relaxation. Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is a perfect place to start. Opening spring 2020, this spa will feature an array of treatments including, but not limited to, facials, massages, and, of course, salon services.
